JES, Boy Scouts, VFW and Elks Invite Public to Flag Retirement Ceremony
Worn, tattered flags collected by JES will be properly retired at a special ceremony in Manassas, Virginia.

CHESTER, VA, June 03, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- WHAT: Boy Scout Troop 670, VFW Post 7589, Elks Lodge 2512 and JES, a foundation repair and waterproofing company, invite the public to a special flag retirement ceremony on June 13th in honor of Flag Day. The event includes a historical account of the flag presented by the Elks Lodge, a formal flag retirement ceremony performed by the VFW and Boy Scouts, and light refreshments.

Worn and tattered flags are currently being accepted from the public for this event and can be brought to JES at 11108 Industrial Road, Manassas, Virginia, 20109 through June 11th from 8 am to 5 pm.


WHY: According to Chapter 10, Section 176 of the United States Code: "The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably burning."
