RESTON, VA, April 27, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cellospeak, Inc., a non-profit for adult cello enthusiasts, celebrates its 10th Anniversary with a Gala Concert and Silent Auction featuring cello quartet 4In Correspondence on May 16, 2010 at 3:00 pm at the Episcopal High School Ainslie Art Center, 3900 West Braddock Rd. Alexandria, VA 22302. Tickets are $30 and may be purchased at http://cellospeak.eventbrite.com. Students under 18 are free. The 4In Correspondence players, all National Symphony Orchestra cellists, include leader Steven Honigberg as well as James Lee, David Teie, and Rachel Young. They will present a varied program of cello ensemble music including a world premier of a composition by Joel Hoffman of the Cincinnati Conservatory. Cellospeak, Inc. faculty members also will perform.

Cellospeak Founder and Artistic Director, Dorothy Amarandos, says "Cellospeak is all about sharing the joy and satisfaction of playing the cello with others. We are thrilled that such an accomplished group as 4In Correspondence will help us celebrate our growth and success through a virtuoso performance of cello ensemble music." Cellospeak sponsor, Bill Gailes of Gailes Violin Shop of College Park, Maryland says "Cellospeak is a wonderful community of adults of diverse backgrounds from across the country who bond together through the cello. We are really pleased to support their worthwhile programs."

Silent Auction items include a cello (valued at $3,000), an original cello-themed painting, the Yo Yo Ma complete CD set "Outside the Box," several unique cello accessories, and numerous items of general interest. The concert and silent auction will help fund Cellospeak's growing portfolio of unique programs and projects that promote the enjoyment of the cello through ensembles. In addition to its largely self-funded summer cello ensemble workshop for adults, Cellospeak also is producing instructional videos, commissioning original compositions, and publishing its own multi-part arrangements specifically for cello ensembles and orchestras.

Cellospeak was created in 2000 by Reston, VA cello teacher and performer Dorothy Amarandos as a summer workshop for 13 adult cello students who yearned for an opportunity to play in ensembles. In 2007, Cellospeak was formally organized as a company and was granted tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Since then, Cellospeak has grown to be one of the preeminent adult cello workshops in the country, renowned for its uniquely supportive atmosphere, stellar faculty and singular offerings of cello quartets and an all-cello orchestra of over 80 musicians led by conductor Gary Fitzgerald.
