MERRIFIELD, VA, February 04, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On Thursday February 12th, DC9 Nightclub, one of the hip spots in Washington DC for eclectic music, presents a night of Funk, Soul, and Jazz Music featuring three top notch musical groups: Jesse Dee, Sol, and Stacy Brooks two talented artists from the DC Metro area.
Excitement is building about this great upcoming night for music. Three acts bursting at the seams with soul, jazz, funk, blues and r&b stylings will share the stage in downtown DC. Each of the featured artists dig deep into their hearts to present original music, and bring with them talented musicians from Boston and Washington DC areas. Let's delve into some details about each of the artists.
Jesse Dee is a guitarist and vocalist deeply influenced by soul music. Jesse Dee has opened for Ryan Montbleau Band, toured nationally, and recently released a stellar album entitled "Bittersweet Batch". This release was produced by Jack Younger (Eli Paperboy Reed). A quote from the Boston Globe states "Jesse Dee s influences read like a Who s Who of classic soul music. Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Etta James, Al Green and many others. But Jesse Dee is not just a student of the classics. He also loves the new wave of rootsy artists such as James Hunter, Amos Lee and John Legend".
Sol, a DC Metro area based musician and vocalist, has toured all over the world with the blues legends of Music Maker Relief Foundation. Sol has also presented his band at wine festivals, premier music festivals, and venues across the Mid-Atlantic US. Sol has been on bills with New Orleans legend Walter Wolfman, the jam-band favorite Soulive, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Robert Cray and others. "Sol lays down a heavy groove! Sol fluently tears out rock, blues, reggae, and jazz, delivered with deep soul stated Tim Duffy, the president of Music Maker. Sol's most current CD release "Freedom" is a blend of deep funk, blues, roots reggae, and rock music. "Freedom" received a 2008 nomination for a Washington Area Music Award (WAMMIE) in the rock category.
Stacy Brooks brings the funk and earthiness with her voice and group of musicians. She is a member of the DC Blues Society and her upcoming album features guest appearances of New Orleans legend Kenny Neal, and blues extraordinaire Memphis Gold. She has also worked with reggae artist Ras Iton and has performed up and down the east coast and in Europe. "Stacy's eclectic upbringing and singing style makes one think of Koko Taylor or Aretha Franklin".- Mariposa Music Festival.
