Information Technology Provider MicroTech Awarded Contract to Support U.S. Presidential Transition Team
Nationally recognized, award-winning small business MicroTech continues legacy of strong support of critical Federal Government IT initiatives by providing GSA and President-elect Barack Obama Transition Team with Information Technology services.

VIENNA, VA, December 05, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Consistently delivering innovative technology and technical services solutions, nationally-recognized small business MicroTech has been selected by the U.S. General Services Administration to support the GSA, Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) business line applications, and the Presidential Transition Team (PTT). Based on the Presidential Transition Act of 1963, later amended in 2000, the GSA plays a prominent role in the transfer of power from one administration to the next.

The GSA is providing the same facilities and support services to the President-elect Barack Obama Transition Team as it provides to all GSA constituents, including office space, telecommunications, information technology (IT) services and equipment, and furnishing supplies. The GSA consults with Presidential candidates prior to the general election to develop a plan for computer and communications systems that will support the transition between the election and the inauguration.

MicroTech (Microtech.net) teamed with Unisys on the bid to offer a wide array of specialized IT services in support of this important project. MicroTech provides IT systems and services, strategic solutions, audio-visual telecommunications (VTC) design and installation, product solutions, and consulting services primarily to federal, city, and state government agencies - managing over 400,000 users daily.

To support the PTT, the GSA Acquisition Service (FAS) Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for all IT services including telecommunications. This support includes the full lifecycle of the IT infrastructure starting from the collection of requirements, the design, implementation, and operations, and at the conclusion of the transition of the new Administration - the disposition of the equipment and infrastructure.
